Projects from our international network of wildlife professionals are submitted to our Board of Scientific Advisors for review
and approval based strictly upon scientific technical merit, management objectives, methodology and sustainability. Upon the recommendation of
the Board of Scientific Advisors, the Institute Executive Board evaluates projects based on their feasibility and funding requirements. The
executive board then contracts with outside resource and service providers to enable the existing local capacity to execute the approved
wildlife project.
Projects are classified into three distinct types:
- Internationally significant wildlife health projects that have sustainable benefits at the ecosystem level that also provide favorable
economic impact for the local communities in which they are conducted; these projects possess compelling subject matter suitable for
dissemination through publication, broadcast media, the Internet and other media to audiences worldwide.
- Regionally significant sustainable wildlife health projects that provide long-term favorable economic benefits to the local community;
these projects are suitable for training local and international wildlife health professionals and provide opportunities for training local
and international students in media production and community development.
- Scientific research projects that improve our understanding of key factors that enhance the sustainable health of a free-ranging
wildlife and the environments they inhabit.

Funding Model
The International Wildlife Health Institute receives funding through contributions by private individuals, financial support
from foundations, through membership fees and income from contracted outside resource and service providers (Project Coordinators). The
Institute provides professional expertise and guidance to ensure all approved wildlife projects conform to the organization’s mission, goals
and standards.
Please apply for funding to have your wildlife health project evaluated by the Internation Wildlife Health Institute.
Project Protocols
Wildlife health project protocols are reviewed and approved by the Board of Scientific Advisors based on scientific and wildlife disease management criteria . Projects are accomplished in close collaboration with local natural resource managers. This collaborative model is facilitated by approved outside resource providers. Outside resource providers consist of organizations capable of recruitment of sponsors, travel logistics coordination, media content production and distribution and ancillary services.
