About IWHI

The International Wildlife Health Institute is a tax-exempt, not-for-profit organization that provides professional expertise and resources in support of selected wildlife health projects around the world that align with the Institute’s vision, mission and objectives.

The Institute’s Board of Directors, Board of Scientific Advisors and staff are internationally experienced. Through our international professional network we solicit the global wildlife community to identify and submit projects that may improve the health of their indigenous free-ranging wildlife populations. Once these projects are clearly defined, support is provided based on the specifics of each project and its alignment with our mission and that of the host countries objectives.

The IWHI has the following primary objectives to support its vision and mission:

  • Improve the health of indigenous wildlife populations through sustainable mission-based projects.
  • Support projects in which sponsors can work directly with wildlife and wildlife health professionals.
  • Ensure that all projects conform to the highest scientific, technical and ethical standards.
  • Recruit and train local people to manage the health of the indigenous free-ranging wildlife that are part of their heritage.
  • Ensure that wildlife health projects utilize local existing capacity and benefit the local economy
  • Ensure that contributions go directly to supporting specific, sustainable health wildlife projects
